The global battle to reduce disaster losses by 2030 will be won or lost in Asia and the Pacific. Australia’s leadership is key to this effort and will be on full display when it hosts the next Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in 2020.
Considering that over 100 million people are estimated to have been affected worldwide this year by extreme weather events such as floods, storms, drought and heatwaves, a lot can be learned from Australia’s efforts to integrate risk and resilience considerations into planning, policies and programs of all government departments.
Australia is committed to supporting women’s sexual and reproductive health, including in disasters, so we can reach those in need during the most vulnerable moments of their lives.
